New Song going on my Running Playlist

Just watched Bones Season 6 Episode 2 and this awesome song was featured.
Toby Lightman "Everyday"

This is not a song for speed work or walking really but a good all around running song for a steady pace.

Got my download, get yours.

Run DC - Tidal Basin Run

The Tidal Basin run was something I stumbled on when doing my 'Coffee with President Lincoln' run; I felt good that day and wanted to keep going. If you're a DC area resident like myself you've probably been to the Tidal Basin or at least to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and have seen other running around the edge of the beautiful water. I was one such runner a couple of weekends ago and quite enjoyed it.

The water is peaceful and I love that I can be in a city that is so huge and so full of people and yet I can find spots in the middle of all of that with some peace. As I was running alone I even pushed myself to pick up the pace as some of the spot along the route were kind of hidden from view and as you'll notice when reading my posts I am kind of paranoid about running alone.

The best part of the entire run was finding the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and being able to take a breather and walk around the park. It is a very large memorial , quite spread out and because I was there at about 830 in the morning not crowded at all. It inspired me to push out the rest of the run to the Jefferson Memorial and finish back at the National Mall.

All in all a fairly short run if you start and end at the mall (3 miles) but I like to add this to other area runs to mix it up a bit or as part of a Run/Walk day.

The DC area is huge which is great if you're a runner like me and get bored easily. In this blog I will discuss all things DC running, events, stores, routes, etc.

To start things off I'll hit you with my favorite DC run that I like to call 'Coffee with President Lincoln' .
I head downtown on Saturday morning and park at the National Mall (free 3 hour parking and there are plenty of spaces at 8 in the morning). Coffee in hand (stop on the way) I head towards the Lincoln Memorial; yes I'm walking but do not fret runners, walking is awesome. I like to get a slow start to my Saturday morning run. I go up the step to the Lincoln Memorial , say 'Good Morning President Lincoln' (in my head, don't want to look too crazy) and sit on the steps to finish my beverage.
Upon completing my drink I head to a recycling can (they are everywhere down there) to discard of my empty cup and then it's time to crank up some Black Eyed Peas(music group) and get my pace going. The route is from Lincoln Memorial to the Capital Building and back (roughly 4 miles). When I get back I walk to the car, grab a bottle water and then generally people watch and walk around cooling off before stretching right there on at the National Mall.
It is really peaceful down there before all the tourists arrive(museum open at 10) and you are not alone as there are always other runners/walkers down there.
To add distance I have done the loop multiple times or added the Tidal Basin to the route (save that for another post).

Happy Running, Walking, Jogging ....keep on moving.
